Police parade man in possession of human parts, others

A 45 year-old farmer, Idris Sule Shaye who was nabbed for unlawful possession of human parts was among the 15 criminal suspects paraded by the Ondo State Police Command yesterday.

Shaye, a native of Kogi State was arrested while in possession of human head and hands which he allegedly cut from an unidentified corpse reportedly dumped at a point in Isua, Akoko South-East Local Government of Ondo State.

Parading the suspect alongside 14 others, alleged to have been involved in various crimes ranging from armed robbery, car theft, sea piracy ,cultism among others heinous crimes, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Tee-Leo Ikoro told newsmen that the suspect was apprehended by crime detectives attached to Ifon divisional police headquarters in Ose local government area of the state.

The police spokesman explained that on  February 2, this year, information got to the police that a teacher one Ahmed Odere, reported that he returned home at Shinabole Camp Owani via Idoani and discovered that something was smelling in the house he is occupying with other three tenants.

He said when the odour was becoming unbearable, occupants of the house reported the matter to the landlord who in turned invited the police who carried out a search in the house, and recovered a sack bag carefully kept in one of the rooms.

On close examination by the police detectives, it was a human head and hands already decaying were found, he added.

ASP Ikoro hinted that during intensive investigation, one Idris Sule Shaye was arrested and upon interrogation confessed to the crime.

Speaking with The Hope Metro in an interview, the suspect, Shaye said it was the son of one Alhasan Isiaku, who came to inform him that his father needed human parts and that they have seen one human body dumped at Isua area of the local government.

He said two boys whose names he gave as Dipo Jimoh and Damaka Jimoh now at large followed him to cut the head and the hands of the deceased whose identity was not yet known.

His words, “I have not been cutting human body parts before. It was one Alhasan who told me that his father needed the parts and two boys followed me to cut the human parts on that fateful day at Isua, where a half burnt lifeless body was dumped.

“I was the one that cut the head and the hands of the deceased. But I did not know the person. I was only employed to carry out the action and did not know the motive behind it, “Shaye said.

 The human parts suspect who said he is a father of two children who are already dead hinted that his wife left him shortly after he lost the children and since then he has been into farming to earn a living.
