Prayer, right actions, solution to poverty in Nigeria – Church leader

A church leader has observed that prayer, alone cannot solve the problem of poverty in Nigeria, stressing that taking right actions is very crucial.

Speaking yesterday during the first Sunday service of the year at the church premises of the Grace Global Outreach Church in Ijapo Estate, Akure, Ondo State capital,   Apostle Aigbogun stated that prayer does not move mountains but faith does, describing faith as the power to believe in God and believe in yourself.

He added that 2019 will be harder than 2018, and that the people cannot afford to do things the way they used to do them and be expecting a different result.

Speaking from personal experience, he said people should not assume that things will naturally change without them changing themselves.

Picking his text from Mark 10:17-22, the clergy opined that you cannot get what you want unless you know what you need to get it.

“Everything you need has its how and what. Actions, not prayer, changes things.

“Prayer brings understanding and revelation. But put some actions behind your prayer.

“The essence of your success in 2019 will be based on knowledge.

“In 2019, make your life simple. If it’s too complicated, it’s not going to give result. Everything is good, but not everything give result.

“If you don’t know where you are going, you will go everywhere,” he stated.

Backing his sermon up with verifiable statistics, he said that India used to be the poorest nation in the world, but was recently replaced by Nigeria.

He drew a parallel between the two nations, saying that they are extremely spiritual.

“Nigeria is the poorest nation in the world and ranks number three behind United States and Canada in number of churches.

“Nigerians spend the highest length of time praying, Muslim prayer times not inclusive.”

From the illustration from the text of his message, Apostle Aigbogun, said the rich man came to Jesus with the mentality of successful men who know what they want and how to get it, seeking how to have eternal life from Jesus and not money, but was not ready to simplify his life, give up some things to get what he wanted.

“Citizens of Nigeria, heaven will not come and save you, your deliverance is in your own hands,” he charged.
