Kwara United have secured their place in the Round of 16 of the President Federation Cup after edging past Gombe United with a 1-0 victory at the Lafia Township Stadium in Nasarawa.

Shola AbdulRaheem netted the decisive goal in the 54th minute, expertly converting a cross from Yahaya Ibrahim to seal the much-needed win for the Harmony Boys.

Despite dominating the first half, Kwara United squandered several clear-cut chances, with Lewis Dandong, Junior Aimufua, and Wasiu Alalade failing to capitalise on goal-scoring opportunities.

Gombe United attempted a fightback, but a resolute defensive display led by Jimoh Gbadamosi kept them at bay, ensuring a clean sheet for Kwara United.

Reacting to the victory, Coach Tunde Sanni expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance, stating that their focus would now shift to their NPFL Matchday 33 clash against Plateau United in Jos on Sunday.

Kwara United will face the winner between Lobi Stars and Solution FC in the Round of 16.
