Primaries: APC panels screen Ondo aspirants

Ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections slated for this month to pick candidates for various elective positions for 2023 general elections, the party has screened aspirants contesting under it.

Recall that the ruling party inaugurated 17 panels for the screening of its governorship, Senatorial and House of Representatives aspirants ahead of its primary election for the elective offices.

The panels had 145 Governorship aspirants, 351 Senatorial aspirants and 1,197 aspirants for the House of Representatives to be screened.

Among those aspirants from Ondo State screened by the committee in Abuja Central Senatorial aspirants, include, Princess Olawunmi-Olatunji Ohwovoriole, Adeniran Oyebade, Dr. Tola Awosika.

For House of Representatives, Idanre /lfedore Federal Constituency aspirants, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly who aspiring for the seat, Mr. Bamidele Oleyelogun and Mr. Tajudeen Adefisoye and Olumbe Akinkugbe (Ondo East/Ondo West) was also screened as at the time of filing the report.

With the new timetable, the primary for governorship is now May 20, while House of Assembly is May 22.The primaries for Senate and House of Representatives are now May 24 and 25 respectively.

For South Senatorial District in the State,  Mathew Oyerimade and Jimoh lbrahim were screened, while Jide lpinsagba and Alex Ajipe have also been screened from the North.

In a telephone interview with The Hope yesterday, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Oleyelogun, said the screening was a successful exercise free of hitches.

The screening which he said was a bit tedious centered on questions by the panels on experience of aspirants and their credentials.

According to him ” all the questions asked l was able to supply answers as a three term state lawmaker and current speaker of the state”.

He boasted to pick the party ticket due to his experience.

On his part, Awosika commended the party for the organized approach adopted for the screening exercise.

This was contained in a statement made available by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ayokunlemi Ambrose.

He also assured his supporters of his strong confidence to emerge victorious at the primaries of the party, as he implored them to be of good faith and remember him in their prayers as they journey on in this political race.
