As the race for Ondo State’s governorship election heats up, the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) has appointed 2,233 delegates from wards and local governments to be part of the total delegates of 2,287 ahead of its primary slated for April 24.

On Wednesday, the party will appoint fifty-four delegates during its state congress to bring the total number of delegates to 2,287, who will determine the party’s flag bearer for the forthcoming November election.

During the party’s ward congress, nine delegates were appointed from each of the 203 wards, and two were appointed from each ward for the local government.

The party delegate congresses will be rounded up with the state congress, where three will be appointed from each of the 18 councils of the state, out of which must be the chairman, woman leader, and secretary.

Speaking with The Hope, the State Chairman of ZLP, Mr. Cornelius Akintoye, explained that the congresses witnessed a large turn-out, indicating that the party will spring up a surprise in winning the election.

He asserted that ZLP is the only alternative party for the people of the state to produce the next governor with a focus to ensure they enjoy the dividends of democracy in infrastructure, education, agriculture, and health sectors, among others.

Dr. Abbass Mimiko, the aspirant of the party to be picked as the party’s candidate at the primary on Wednesday, he described as an experienced politician and the only alternative among governorship candidates of political parties who should be elected as the governor of the state to proffer solutions to the suffering facing the people.
