Printer arraigned for alleged motorcycle theft, granted bail

A 50-year-old printer, Michael Adebehinje, has been arraigned before an Akure Magistrate Court on charges of motorcycle theft.
Adebehinje appeared before Magistrate Olusola Olujobi, facing a two-count charge of stealing.
The prosecution, led by Taiwo Oniyere, alleged that the incident occurred on May 21, 2024, at about 6:00 p.m. at Onesan Hotel in Akure. Oniyere stated that the defendant stole a TVS motorcycle valued at ₦1,310,000, belonging to Chidi Odoh.
According to the prosecution, the offence contravenes Sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
In his plea for bail, the defence counsel, Yemi Aladetoyinbo, urged the court to grant bail on lenient terms with credible sureties.
Magistrate Olujobi granted bail to the defendant in the sum of ₦500,000, with two sureties in like sum. The defendant successfully met the bail conditions.
The case was adjourned to December 17, 2024, for further hearing.
