Ondo State Government has called on stakeholders to prioritise healthcare delivery as part of efforts to strengthen the health system and secure a healthier future for residents.
Speaking in Akure shortly after a 25-kilometre health walk to commemorate the 2025 World Health Day, the Permanent Secretary of the Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Francis Akanbiemu, stressed the need for deliberate investment in impactful health programmes, especially those targeting maternal and child health.
Akanbiemu, who was represented by the Director of Disease Control and Immunization, Dr. Victor Adefesoye, noted that this year’s World Health Day, themed, “Healthy Beginning, Future Hope,” underscores the need for a robust health system to guarantee a healthier future for all.
He said: “April 7 is globally recognised as World Health Day, and this year’s theme reminds us that the foundation of a healthy society begins with sound health policies and practices. In Ondo State, we marked the day with a 25-kilometre health walk which started at 7am.”
The event, according to him, had in attendance, personnel from the Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency, the state Ministry of Health, the Hospitals’ Management Board, the World Health Organisation, and other health sector partners.
While appreciating stakeholders for their consistent support, Akanbiemu commended health-focused partners for their unwavering commitment towards building a healthier Ondo State.
