Prioritise supporters in key appointments, Gov Aiyedatiwa urged
The Governor-elect in the November 16, 2024, Ondo State governorship election, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has been urged to prioritise appointing individuals who worked tirelessly for his victory into key and sensitive positions as he prepares for his inauguration.
A group under the auspices of “The Progressives” and led by Chief Kehinde Ogungade, urged the Governor-elect to remember major stakeholders who contributed significantly to his return to the Alagbaka Government House.
The group stressed that the top hierarchy of leaders at the state level and across the 18 local government areas should be considered first for appointments before others. They emphasised the sleepless nights, rigorous campaigns, personal expenses, time, and commitments invested by party members to ensure his success at the polls.
Chief Ogungade specifically highlighted the sacrifices made by some members to ensure the All Progressives Congress (APC) triumphed over other political parties in the election. He also recalled their efforts in mobilising voters across the state’s nooks and crannies.
The group appealed to Governor Aiyedatiwa to appoint its members to positions such as commissioners, heads of government agencies, boards, parastatals, and other key roles at both the state and federal levels.
Reiterating their stance, the group members called on the Governor-elect to consider key APC stakeholders, including members of the State Working Committee at the state, zonal, and local government levels.
They also mentioned campaign structure leaders and local government campaign director-generals who fully cooperated and worked for the party’s victory in the November 16, 2024, election.
