The All Progressives Congress, APC, has said that the process that will produce the national chairman of the party will be encompassing .
The party pointed out that it has learnt its lesson in a very hard way and would ensure that national chairmanship position no longer cause crisis .
The Director of Media and Publicity of the party in Ondo State, Mr. Steve Otaloro, stated this in a telephone interview with The Hope on Sunday.
To this end, he said the party will set up screening committee to screen aspirants for the position ahead of the national convention.
“Any emerged person among aspirants that will be screened will unite the entire party and lead the party to victory in the 2023 general elections.
Otaloro, however, noted that the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Senator George Akume who is a loyalist of the party and one of the aspirants for the national chairmanship position of the party has what it takes to occupy the post.
He explained that his endorsement for the position by the members of Middlebelt Youth Vanguard was not enough for him to become the national chairman of the party as he said that who will occupy the post must have the support of the party members across the country.
He noted that “If he could be pushed for the position at this stage, you will equally understand that his speech and endorsement will not be what will make him to become the national chairman our party.
“The whole entire nation including Abuja must be in support not only his constituents.
“I cannot dispute the fact that he is capable but he has to be accepted across the country.
“He needs much to do because there are other aspirants for the position including the former Governor of Nasarawa State, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura”
