From Fasusi Martins,Okitipupa
|Local government workers in Ondo state under the aegis of the National Union Of Local Government Employees  (NULGE) have commended the administration of the Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for his kind gesture towards the welfare of workers of local government by embarking on a general promotion exercise across board which was described as first of its kind in the history of the state.

At the Okitipupa centre of the promotion exercise, members of the Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) were seen attending to workers in all cadres with the original copies of their credentials as part of the requirements for the screening exercise.

In a chat with The Hope correspondent, the NULGE chairman, Okitipupa chapter, Comrade Temiyemi Akinmolayan described the exercise as laudable .

He commended the state government for making it all inclusive by making Okitipupa as one of the centres for the screening exercise.

His words: “Before now, workers used to travel to Akure for the promotion exercise. As a union, we discussed with the state government about the danger  and the risk associated with it.

The Governor  in his magnanimity granted our request, thereby reducing the level of risk and time wasted by the workers in the past”

Akinmolayan appealed to the workers to be more dedicated to their duty and always improve on themselves through relevant educational programmes.

Also, Treasurer of Okitipupa Local Government, Mr. Boluwaji Merotohun expressed gratitude to the governor, describing him as workers friendly.

Merotohun said it was the first time that promotion was conducted the same year with two outstanding from previous administration.

“I have to commend Mr. Governor, he is doing very well, he is fantastic. I could recall in my last promotion exercise, we had between two and three years of accumulated promotions, but today, the story has changed”

Addressing the workers, Mr Ife Iji, Commissioner 1, Training and Manpower Development, LGSC appealed to the workers in the LGA to reciprocate the kind gesture of the present government by putting in more efforts and their best.

“He who so much is given, much is equally expected,” he said.
