Nursing mothers have been reminded on the need to give adequate care to their children now that severe harmattan and cold are biting hard.
A senior health official with Oyin Akoko Maternity Centre, Oyin Akoko, Akoko Northwest Local Government Area of Ondo State, Mrs Dupe Olowoyeye in an interview with The Hope.
Mrs Olowoyeye said the call became imperative when one observes that many children usually contact cold related illnesses at this particular time.
She appealed to mothers to wear thick dresses for the children and feed them with warm food.
Equally, the Nursing Officer appealed to pregnant women to always do exercises that could keep them fit.
She counselled them( pregnant women) to always attend health centres in their area instead of patronising quacks, herbalists and spiritual homes where their lives are always endangered.
The Medical professional commended the Ondo State Government on its primary health care policy, especially the provision of drugs and equipment at all health facilities manned by qualified medical and paramedics staffs across the state.
According to her, this alone has drastically reduced maternal mortality in the rural areas of the sunshine state.
