PVCs collection: S/West states set to declare public holiday

Apparently not satisfied by the low rate of collection of Permanent Voter’s Card (PVCS in the South West zone, the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) in the zone has announced the immediate launch of “Operation collect Your PVC” across all the states in the region.

This was part of the communique issued at the end of the meeting of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) South-West Zone, held on Thursday at the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign office in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The meeting was at the instance of the South West Coordinator, Tinubu/ Shettima Presidential Campaign Council and Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, to devise strategy to ensure overwhelming victory for the party in the coming polls.

Also present at the meeting were the immediate past Governor of Ekiti state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; APC Chairman,Ondo State, Ade Adetimehin; National Vice Chairman (South-West) and Deputy Zonal Co-ordinator of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, Isaacs Kekemeke;  former deputy Governor of Osun State, Titilayo Ponle; Omowumi Olatunji; Ifedayo Abegunde; former deputy Governor of Ogun state, Segun Adesegun; representative of Ekiti state Governor, Jide Awe; APC states chairmen in the South West and other members of Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), South-West zone.

The Council particularly enjoined Governors of all APC controlled states in the South West to declare Tuesday, 24 January, 2023 as work-free day to aid collection of PVCs.

In a communique signed by Coordinator South West PCC and Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and the Deputy Coordinator PCC, South West zone, Isaacs Kekemeke, the Council also directed all party leaders and government functionaries at the Federal and State levels to return immediately to their respective local governments, wards and units to lead the campaigns and voter mobilization activities.

“Council praises its Chairman, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, CON for his leadership and candour. It notes with satisfaction his improved state of health and prayed for his speedy recovery and continued service to Ondo state and Nigeria as a nation.

“Council approves the request of the Coordinator of the PCC in the Southwest zone, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, CON to appoint His Excellency, Dr John Kayode Fayemi, CON to assist and support him in coordinating the Southwest campaign activities.

“Council decries the low rate of collection of Permanent Voter Card (PVC) and announces the immediate launch of “Operation collect Your PVC” across all the states in the Southwest.

“In furtherance to the foregoing, Council enjoins Governors of all APC controlled states to declare Tuesday, 24th January, 2023 as work-free day to aid collection of PVC.

” Council directs the setting up of polling units mobilization committees across all the Southwest States and also decides that all Party leaders and government functionaries at the Federal and State levels should return immediately to their respective local governments, wards and units to lead the campaigns and voter mobilization activities.

“Council urges Governors of APC controlled states in the Southwest to deploy all state owned mass media machineries towards mobilisation, voter education and PVC collection.

Earlier, addressing the South West APC caucus, the South West Coordinator, Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council and Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious in the coming polls, described its presidential candidate as the most competent among all contestants.

Akeredolu who said there is a big task ahead of the party, equally charged all the leaders to go back to their respective areas and work assiduously to secure landslide victory for the party.
