Quality education pivotal to nation’s growth – Oyebanji

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has reiterated the importance of quality education in shaping the future of the country, affirming his administration’s dedication to investing in educational institutions.
Governor Oyebanji stated this while speaking at the 29th convocation ceremony of Ekiti State University (EKSU) in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State during the weekend.
He said, “Empowering our youths with qualitative and functional education will not only secure their future but also lay the foundation for a prosperous and sustainable Ekiti State.”
Oyebanji also urged graduates to be agents of positive change, using their skills and expertise to address societal challenges such as poverty, unemployment, and insecurity.
The university’s Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Akin Oyebode, praised the alumni for their significant contributions to the institution.
He highlighted their role in facilitating the donation of two medical hostels through Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, as well as the construction of additional medical hostels, a mini stadium, a two-kilometer road linking the alumni village to the College of Medicine, and a 500-seat Computer-Based Examination (CBE) Centre, along with an FM radio station.
The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Joseph Ayodele expressed pride in the institution’s recent recognition as Nigeria’s best state university by Times Higher Education and also commended the alumni association’s strategic collaboration with Senator Bamidele in advancing the university’s development.
Eminent Nigerians who were honoured with honorary doctorate at the convocation included the Senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele; Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Dr. Zacch Adedeji; and Chairman of the Governing Board of the Bank of Industry Dr. Mansur Muhtar.
