The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ore Unit Command in Ondo State, has cautioned motorists against speeding and night travels during the rainy season.

Mr Sikiru Alonge, the Unit Commander, who disclosed this on Tuesday in Ore said the advice was necessary to avert crashes associated with speeding and night travels.

Alonge cautioned that roads were always wet and slippery during the rains, adding that “the weather is not always clear when it rains, which makes visibility poor.”

He urged motorists to ensure their vehicles are  always in good condition before putting them on the roads and also set out early on their journeys to avoid night travels.

“We are in the rainy season, the roads are wet and slippery, drivers must make it mandatory to reduce their speed and drive within the regulated speed limit.

“During the rains, the weather is not always clear and this makes visibility difficult, so motorists should avoid night travels.

“This advice is necessary to avert crashes associated with the season, and to avoid loss of lives and property,” Alonge said.

He also urged motorists and other road users to obey traffic rules and regulations, especially on the Ore-Benin and Ore Ondo expressway.

Alonge said “our personnel are on the highways to ensure obedience to traffic rules and arrest offenders.”
