A two-hour rain, accompanied by heavy wind at the weekend destroyed many buildings in the ancient town of Owu Kuta in Ayedire local government area of Osun state,  just as it also wrecked havoc on the palace of the town.

The Hope gathered that about 16 houses, apart from the palace of Olowu of Owu Kuta, Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama had their roofs completely blown off by the storm.

The rainstorm blew off the roof of a section of the palace and damaged other property.

The traditional ruler’s car was damaged as the blown off roof fell on the car.

One of the structures in the palace was completely destroyed as the collapsed bricks littered the premises, while some debris smashed on vehicles.

Speaking with newsmen after inspecting the damaged structures and other property in the town, Oba Makama described the havoc caused by the rainstorm as unfortunate.

The monarch who said he was in Abuja for a programme when the incident occurred said that the destroyed property ran into millions of naira.

He said:” I was not at the palace when the disaster occurred. I was in Abuja for a programme. It is quite unfortunate that property worth millions of naira were lost.
