Rainy Season: Oyebanji approves dredging of waterways in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji has approved the dredging of more waterways in various communities in Ekiti to avert flooding as the rainy season begins.
The Chairman of Ekiti State Environmental Protection Agency (EKSEPA), Chief Bamitale Oguntoyinbo made this known to journalists in Ado-Ekiti.
Oguntoyinbo explained that some of the waterways were located in Ado-Ekiti, Otun-Ekiti Ido-Ekiti, Ise-Ekiti and Ekiti West Local Government area.
The EKSEPA chairman who noted that the step became necessary to curb flooding, appealed to residents to desist from blocking the waterways with refuse.
” I want to sincerely thank our amiable Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji for approving the dredging of waterways in towns and community in Ekiti.
” EKSEPA has commenced dredging of waterways in Otun-Ekiti, Ido-Ekiti and various part of the state to ensure that flooding is averted in all parts of the state.
” I just want to appeal to residents to desist from blocking the waterways with refuse to avert flooding,” he said.
Oguntoyinbo, thanked the state governor for being proactive in protecting the lives of residents from flooding.
” I want to thank Governor Oyebanji for being proactive to safe lives and properties from flooding, I therefore urge every residents to dispose their refuse neatly and in the designated site,” he said.
