Ramadan: Man slumps, dies during prayer in Abuja Mosque

A 52-year-old man, Salihu Byezhe, slumped and died while observing the early morning Subhi prayers at a mosque in Gudaba village, Kuje Area Council, Abuja.

The incident, which occurred on Thursday, came after Byezhe had partaken in Sahur, the pre-dawn meal observed during Ramadan.

Eyewitnesses said he suddenly collapsed in the middle of the prayer session, prompting worshippers to rush him to a hospital in Kuje. However, medical personnel at the hospital confirmed him dead on arrival, attributing the cause of death to high blood pressure.

His son, who was also present at the mosque, accompanied him to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Byezhe was laid to rest at 10:12 am on the same day in line with Islamic burial rites.
