By Tola Gbadamosi

The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Wilfred Afolabi, has urged residents of the state to remain vigilant and prioritise their safety while remaining steadfast in prayers for peace and security.

Speaking in an interview with Weekend Hope, Afolabi congratulated Muslim faithful on the successful completion of their fasting and prayer season, acknowledging their dedication to spiritual growth and self-discipline.

“Now that we have observed our prayers and fasting, let us ensure we continue to live a holy life both during and after this period,” he said.

“It is not just about the act of fasting but about maintaining the virtues of patience, kindness, and devotion that the holy month teaches us.”

He underscored the significance of prayer, describing it as a powerful tool for positive change.

“Prayer achieves a lot in practical terms,” he said. “The people of Ondo State should continue to keep us, the security agencies, in their prayers as we work tirelessly to maintain peace and order. I wish them all the best in their endeavours.”

Afolabi further advised police officers across the state to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and respect for the religious beliefs and practices of the Muslim community, particularly during this sacred period.

He urged all officers and personnel to remain dedicated to their duty of safeguarding lives and property, ensuring that worshippers can observe their religious obligations in a peaceful and secure environment.

“Our responsibility is to protect every citizen, irrespective of their faith. We must ensure that the spirit of Ramadan, which is rooted in peace and tolerance, is not disrupted by any form of insecurity,” he added.
