The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola has felicitated Osun Muslim Community as Muslims across the globe begin fasting today.
The immediate past Osun State Governor tasked Muslim Ummah in the state to be more pious, disciplined, dedicated and obedient to Allah’s commandments during and after the Holy month as espoused in the Holy Book – Quran and Haddit of Prophet Muhammed.
Oyetola, in a statement from his media office, emphasised the lessons of forgiveness, extension of alms giving, prayers, and supplications during the month of Ramadan as basic things that must be inculcated by devout Muslims.
He called on the Muslims across the state and beyond to rededicate themselves to Allah and use the opportunity of the Holy month to move closer to God and pray for themselves and for the growth and development of the state and the country as a whole.
Oyetola who described Ramadan as a month of repentance called for self examination in order to rededicate, retrace and realign one’s steps in line with the dictates, lessons and teachings of the holy month.
“On behalf of the APC family in Osun State, I congratulate our Muslim brothers and sisters across the state on the occasion of this year’s fasting. Witnessing this year’s Ramadan is by divine favour, hence, the need to be more closer to our Creator ever than before.
“This is a period of forgiveness, blessings and favours from Allah, and it is incumbent on every true Muslim to stick to the opportunity as provided by the holy month. Let’s be our brother’s keepers, this is the period to show love, empathy and respect for one another as we extend alms to the needy.
“So, as we pray for ourselves, let’s pray for continued peace, unity and stability in our dear state and Nigeria at large. I wish you all Ramadan Kareem”, Oyetola urged.
