The Veterinary Council of Nigeria,(VCN) Osun state chapter has decried the rate of quackery in the profession.

The State Chairman of the association, Dr Moses Olayemi disclosed this during his courtesy visit to the State Commissioner of Police in Osogbo.

Olayemi explained that the quacks are selling substandard and fake veterinary products that are injurious to the health of consumers.

He urged the police to help in the clampdown on the quacks in the society.

He also enjoined the police to ensure that the rules and regulations guiding the practice of veterinary medicine in Nigeria are strictly adhered to.

He stressed the need for those involved in animal healthcare delivery, including products sellers to be duly registered with the government.

He said so many unregistered and faceless vendors are selling veterinary products in the society and this is giving the profession a setback.

Responding, the Commissioner of Police, Mrs Abiodun Ige assured the association of the maximum cooperation of her command within the ambits of the law.
