Rebuilding hospitals in Ekiti, a huge task – HMB boss

The Chairman, Ekiti State Hospitals Management Board (HMB) Dr. Bayo Orire has described the rebuilding of all the state specialist hospitals as a herculean task, but surmountable under the present administration.

Orire lamented that all the primary and secondary health  institutions in the state suffered serious neglect which resulted in infrastructural decay within four years administration of the former Governor Ayodele Fayose.

Speaking with newsmen in Ado-Ekiti at the weekend, the HMB boss said the state suffered a huge setback not only in the health sector, but other boards and parastatals during Fayose’s reign.

He allerged that all the hospitals in the state were left unattended to with the  good people of the state not able to access quality healthcare services.

Orire who further decried the dearth of infrastructures in most public health faculties in the state, assured that the present administration in the state under the leadership of Dr Kayode Fayemi would turn the health sector around.

He explained that the Governor and members of the HMB had met and visited the hospitals, while arrangement has been concluded to fix the dilapidated structures and provide the hospitals with state of the art equipment.

Orire listed industrialisation, agriculture, health care, security and education as top priorities of Governor Kayode Fayemi’s administration while urging the people of the state not to relent by continue to support the Governor in his bid to reclaim the lost glory of the state.
