Reciprocate women’s contributions in politics, leaders urged

The Chairperson of Odigbo Local Government, Mrs. Margaret Akinsuroju has called on political leaders to acknowledge the contributions of women in politics by giving them opportunity to participate in governance.

The APC chieftain, made the appeal while speaking with The Hope in Ore, thanking Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for the opportunity given to women to serve in the state, saying it worth emulation.

Akinsuroju, who was satisfied with the current opportunity given to women to participate in politics and governance in the state, stressed the need for all hands to be on deck to utilise the opportunity well.

According to her, considering the positive contributions of women in politics especially during elections, women deserved to be rewarded with political opportunities.

The Chairperson called on the leadership of the party to consider giving more concession to women for them to contest in elections.

She  assured to work in active synergy with the Governor to achieve his second term ambition so that the good work can continue.

She called on women in the council area and the state to exercise patience, stressing that the issue of inequality would be addressed to ensure more representation of women in Politics and Governance.

Akinsuroju urged women in the area to continue to support her administration in the council in order to bring more development and improve the standard of living of the people.

“We must continue to work together as a unit to achieve our goal. Development can only be achieved where peace and unity are priority”.
