Former Sunshine Stars players on Tuesday charged the crop of current players to rediscover their form and return the team to the top of the table in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL)

The former skippers who took turns speaking at the camp of the players, on Tuesday in Akure, urged them to put pressure aside and enjoy their games to get results.

Former Captain of Sunshine Stars and Africa Cup of Nations winner, Godfrey Oboabona, while addressing the players, urged them to follow the coach’s instructions and put in extra effort to get the desired result.

Oboabona, who captained Sunshine Stars for seven years, said fans were improving with their behaviour because, during his time as captain, they would not go near the stadium after they might have drawn or lost any match in Akure

He used the opportunity to urge the players to do their best to make everyone happy, saying,” Sunshine is ours”.

“You have to play well, listen to your coach, players build coaches and coaches build players, things are better now, those times we played, it was not easy, we wouldn’t even come to train the next day if we played draw.

“The remaining matches are very important, all the matches are important. No pressure, play your game and enjoy your game, when you enjoy your game, you will win,” he said.

Also speaking, Ndidi Oloye, who captained Sunshine Stars from 1998 to 2003, urged the players to put their minds to the next games and concentrate.

“I want you to put your mind on the game, don’t lose concentration, put in all your efforts, let’s concentrate so that we will be happy,” he said.

Also present at the event are; Taiwo Abulatan Taiwo (captain from 2002 to 2004, Idowu Kayode (between 2003 and 2005), and Kayode Emmanuel (From 1996 to 1997).

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Bamidele Ologunloluwa, appreciated all the former skippers of the club for cheering the boys ahead of the upcoming games.

Ologunloluwa said the performance of the players in the last two matches, despite losing, was encouraging and would be great to win at least the next two matches.

The commissioner said the management of the team was solidly behind the team and they should turn what they felt was pressure to wins to make their supporters happy.

”They (fans) believe that you can do it, Sunshine Stars management is with you, make us laugh. I am using this to challenge the coaches and players that you deserve to win.

Sunshine Stars Captain, Abe Sunday appreciated the commissioner and ex-captains, assuring that the players would perform well in the upcoming matches
