Register your plate number with BIR, ODSG tasks car owners

Ondo state government has warned those in the habit of purchasing   fake agents in getting  plate number to desist  saying such act would not be taken for granted henceforth.

The warning came through the Senior Special Assistant to Ondo State Governor on Special Duties & Strategy, Dr. Doyin Odebowale during the media chat with journalists in Akure during the week

Odebowale according to a release signed by the Press Officer of ministry of Finance, Itunu Lijofi said the state government has taken necessary steps to make perpetrators of the evil act face the wrath of the law.

He called on all vehicle owners, motorcyclists, tricycle owners and lorry owners in the state to get proper and approved registration done to avoid undue embarrassment.

According to him, two weeks grace has been approved to allow those who are yet to comply to do so.

Chairman, Ondo State Board of Internal Revenue, Mr. Tolu Adegbie said the issue of vehicle registration in the state is no more a matter of choice but compulsory adding that the board is the only approved agency to do so.

He gave the total number of motorcycles and motor vehicles registered with the board since 2014 to August, 2018 as about eighty- two (82,000) thousand, (motorcycles – 61,120, motor vehicles – 20,903).

Mr. Adegbie thereafter assured secured records of registered plate numbers with the board and that adequate information is available for those who need confirmation for their registration through the call contact centre or whatsApp.

Director, Motor Licensing Authority in the state, Mr. Afolabi Daniyan, appealed to the public to go to the nearest board of internal revenue office as its available throughout the 18 local government areas to do the needful on their plate number registration and the renewals of old papers before they are arrested.
