Registration: ODSG reads riot act to herdsmen

As registration of herdsmen operating in Ondo State begins today, the State Government has vowed that those who failed to register within the stipulated time will face the consequences.
The Commander of the Ondo State Security Agency (Amotekun Corps) Mr Adetunji Adeleye disclosed this in an exclusive interview with The Hope yesterday.
He said the registration will assist the government to know and separate genuine herders with genuine motive of doing business in the state from criminal elements.
Adeleye said those cleared will be issued licences to operate in the state and must abide by the rules of engagement as stipulated by the law of the land.
He said anybody who does not have a genuine business will not be registered.
“As for those who want to register, we will profile the person, know his backgrand, what he wants to do, and make sure it is legitimate, pays necessary fees to the government and he will be issued the necessary licence.
The Amotekun boss declared that anybody who failed to register within the stipulated time will face the wrought of the law.
Ondo state Commissioner for Agriculture, Otunba Adegboyega Adefarati who said some of the illegal herders were already leaving the forest said it would be a biometric registration.
