Relief as Ore records first major rainfall of 2025

By Kayode Afolabi, Ore

Residents of Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, heaved a sigh of relief as the town experienced its first major rainfall of the year.

The long-awaited downpour, which marked the end of the prolonged dry spell, was met with excitement and gratitude by the people, who had endured weeks of intense heat and dust.

The Hope observed that as the rain fell, many residents stepped out to savour the refreshing breeze and the distinct scent of the wet earth, welcoming the much-needed respite from the scorching weather brought on by the Harmattan season.

It would be recalled that some residents had resorted to special prayers, seeking divine intervention over the unbearable heatwave caused by the lack of rainfall.

A resident, identified as Aunty Bola, expressed her delight at the unexpected rain, saying, “I was shocked when it started because we had been expecting it for a while. We pray this is a sign of good things to come.”

She added, “The rain cooled the entire town as it lasted for hours, making it easier for residents to sleep peacefully.”

However, she cautioned farmers against rushing to plant their crops, advising them to wait until the rainy season fully sets in.
