Religious leaders commercialise churches -Monarch

Abandonment of the sacred duties of men of God has been identified as one of the major cause of negative influence in the society.
Oniju of Iju-Odo in Okitipupa Local Government, Oba Festus Olumoyegun declared this in his goodwill message at the 9th Synod of the Diocese on the Coast (Anglican Communion ) during the weekend .
At the well attended synod held at Saint Paul’s Anglican Church, Lebi, Okitipupa, Oba Olumoyegun said religious institution no longer alive to its responsibility of propagating the gospel but engaging in unhealthy rivalry .
He submitted that some religious leaders were in the habit of commercializing the gospel impressed their members to seek them instead of seeking God
“One major cause of the negative influence in the society today is that the religious institutions no longer alive to its responsibility of propagating the gospel. Instead, what obtain are unhealthy rivalry m nepotism, commercialization of churches. ..”
The monarch challenged the delegates at the synod to re dedicate themselves to the service of God.
He said the robust relationship between the church and the community has contributed immensely to the peace and tranquility enjoyed in the state
The Oniju of Iju-Odo who used the forum to reiterate the continue support of traditional institutions co the church of God commenced the leadership virtue of the Bishop of the Diocese, Rt. Revd Oluseyi Pirisola
