The Executive Chairman of Akoko North East Local Government, Mohammed Olawale has called on members of the Hausa community in Ikare-Akoko to remain law-abiding and continue to promote peaceful coexistence within the area.
Olawale made the appeal while receiving the Sarkin Hausa of Ikare, Alhaji Muhammadu Jamilu Haladu II, who led a delegation on a courtesy visit to his office to seek the council’s intervention on key issues affecting the community.
He commended the Sarkin and his subjects for their contributions to the socio-economic development of the local government and assured that his administration remains committed to fostering unity and inclusiveness among all ethnic groups.
The council boss stressed that peace and respect for local laws are essential to achieving sustainable development, urging residents to cooperate with community leaders and security agencies to maintain order.
In response to the Sarkin’s request, Olawale granted immediate approval for Hausa residents to obtain certificates of origin for their children born within the local government and promised to look into the establishment of a standard Shasha market in Ikare.
He also assured that other concerns raised during the visit would be addressed in consultation with relevant authorities, noting that his administration would continue to ensure fairness in governance.
According to him, “Peaceful coexistence, respect for local laws, and mutual understanding are the pillars upon which we can build the united and prosperous Akoko North East we all desire.”
