As part of the activities to mark the fifth year remembrance ceremony of the late Deji of Akureland, Oba Adebiyi Adesida, Afunbiowo 11, his family at the weekend provided succour to the Ago-Ireti Leprosarium and the Motherless home, Oba-Ile.

Led by the Olori (Queen) of the late King, Mojisola Adesida, the delegates donated foodstuffs and household items worth thousands of  naira to the two homes.

The items donated included bags of rice, bags of salt, packs of detergent, 30litres gallons of vegetable oil, tubers of yam, packs of sugar, among others.

Olori Mojisola explained that the reason behind the gesture is to build on the legacy of the late king who took care of the people in these homes in his lifetime.

She said, though his demise was painful, glory be to God for his faithfulness over the family he left behind, hence, the reason to commemorate the fifth year of his passage into the world beyond by giving to the needy.

Her words:  “Kabiyesi, when he was alive used to do this. In fact about three times a year in his lifetime, anytime he was having a festival in the palace, he would bring things here.

“We did this to commemorate the fifth year, and we will continue to do so yearly”.

At the Motherless home, Olori Adesida thanked the guardians for taking care of the children, comparing their job to that of a teacher who will be rewarded in the future when they don’t expect.

Speaking on behalf of the school and the Ministry of Women Affairs, Mrs. Hannah Adegboyega thanked them for the kind gesture, and affirmed that the late Deji did same in his life time.
