Remit govt revenue for development, LGSC charges workers

The Chairman of  Ondo State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), Mr Femi Idris has charged workers in the commission to ensure they remit the accrued revenue to government account for developmental purposes.

He stated this at a two-day training workshop held in Akure, the state capital for the Director of Finance and Supplies, Internal Auditor, Local Government Accountant, Cashiers 1, Rate Officers 1 and Store Officers in the 18 local governments of the state.

Idris said  the two-day training workshop was put in place  with the aim of keeping with the best practices and envisage the new emerging transitional process in Nigeria.

The chairman was represented by the Commissioner in charge of Training and Manpower Development in the commission, Mr Bankole Ife Iji.

According to him, “As key players in  policy formulation, revenue generation and disbursement process and keeping of government account, the commission expects you to be up and doing in this regard”

In her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Ondo State Local Government Service Commission, Mrs Adenike Ogunsola commended the chairman of the commission for making the training of  members of staff his priority.

She added: As a practitioner, you are expected to bring your experiences into bear with a view to minimizing and blocking of revenue leakages in your respective local governments.

One of the resource persons and the Head of Accounting Service, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba, Mr Adejuwon Ayodeji urged participants to make use of the two tools they were taught in Fiscal Forecasting and Implement saying it will bring fiscal discipline.

He added that in making proposal, they should consider the people saying every budget focus is on the people, adding that they must also look at various sources of revenue within the local government.

Participants at the training were optimistic they will leave the workshop more intellectually equip with the caliber of the resource persons.
