Renovation of Akure roads begins

In its determination to make road network within Akure metropolis motorable, the state government has embarked on filling on potholes in the state capital.
Findings by The Hope revealed that the rehabilitation project which started from Oba- Nla off Adesida road has gotten to Oke- Ijebu but the rain which started few days ago is hampering.
The Hope reliably gathered that the project which is being handled by the State Ministry of Works will be extended to every part of the state capital.
In an interview with motorists plying the road, they commended the state government for embarking on the project.
According to them, Ijomu to Agbogbo road which they described as one of the well constructed roads in the past recently became an eye sore.
A taxi driver plying Ijomu/ Igoba road, Mr Dele Orimoloye while expressing delight over the rehabilitation stated that majority of them used to visit their mechanics weekly to repair their vehicle due to the deplorable condition of the road.
In his comment, an Akure bus driver, Mr Calistus Olowolayemo described the road to be very vital as it is a transit road that leads to other parts of the state.
He said” You know that it is this Oke Ijebu road that leads to the Benin/Ilesa express road from where you can board vehicle to Akoko area and Ekiti state.
“We are happy that eventually, the attention of the state government has been drawn to it and we thanked them” he stated.
Commenting on the rehabilitation in an interview with The Hope,the Chairman of All Progressive Congress for ward 4 in Akure,Comrade Adebayo Oladele debunked the rumor that the Akeredolu led administration is doing the rehabilitation because of the governorship election slated for October 10.
He disclosed that before now Akeredolu led administration had been carrying out the rehabilitation of both federal and state roads such as the damage portion on Owo/Ipele road,Oke Alabojuto in Ikare among others.
He enjoined the people to continue to support the government of the day to enable them enjoy more dividents of democracy.
