Reps member condemns gruesome murder of constituent, seeks calm

By Victor Akinkuolie

Member representing Irele/ Okitipupa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Okunjimi Odimayo, has condemned in strong terms the gruesome killing of a young lady, Bamitale Joy, who was reportedly hacked to death in Ode-Irele, headquarters of Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Describing the incident as barbaric and utterly heartbreaking, Odimayo lamented the rising wave of inhuman acts in society, stating that such cruelty has no place in a civilised nation.

The deceased, identified as 27-year old Bamitale Joy, was said to be a teacher at a private nursery and primary school in the community.

She was allegedly murdered by a middle-aged man, the son of her landlord, following a heated argument between them.

Reacting to the tragic development, the lawmaker expressed deep sadness over the killing, noting that he has already reached out to the Ondo State Police Command for a thorough investigation into the matter.

He assured the family of the victim and residents of the community that justice would be served, adding that the suspect would not escape the full weight of the law.

“I have contacted the police command, and I am confident that a full-scale investigation will be conducted to unravel the circumstances behind this heinous act. The suspect will be brought to justice,” Odimayo said.

He commended the Nigeria Police for their swift response and professionalism, which led to the immediate apprehension of the suspect.

While commiserating with the people of Irele local government, particularly the family of the deceased, the lawmaker urged residents of Ode-Irele to remain calm and allow law enforcement agencies to carry out their constitutional duties without interference.

Odimayo further called on the residents to refrain from taking the law into their own hands, assuring them that due process would be followed and that justice would prevail.
