A member of the House of Representatives, Mrs Taiwo Oluga, in collaboration with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE),  has trained 200 women and youths in order to make them self-reliant.

The youths were trained in Osogbo, under the disbursement of Micro Enterprises Enhancement Scheme (MEES) loans.

The youths were trained on cosmetology, soap making and photography, among others.

Speaking at the programme, the NDE Director-General, Mr Dikko Abubakar, said that the efforts of the lawmaker and NDE would help to uplift the lives of many through job creation.

Represented by the NDE Director in Osun, Mr Ismail Yekini, Abubakar said that the trainees would receive N10,000 each as a start-up support after the training.

He said that the training would further help in reducing the rate of unemployment and create more jobs for people within the constituency.

“The gesture was not the first in Osun, because we have been able to partner with many House of Representatives members and senators across the country.

“This will help in reducing unemployment and also create more jobs for the unemployed within the federal constituency”, Abubakar said.

In her remarks, Oluga, representing Irewole, Isokan and Ayedade federal constituency, appreciated NDE for partnering with her constituency through skill acquisition and enhancement scheme loans.

She urged the beneficiaries of the scheme to make judicious use of the start-up funds to better their lives.
