Residents plead for transformer as Aiyedatiwa’s aides visit Omolayo community
Residents of the Omolayo/Osisi Community in Oke Ijebu, Akure, expressed their urgent need for a new transformer during a recent visit from representatives of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. The delegation, led by Hon. (Mrs) Olabisi Olajide, Special Assistant on Mobilisation, included Hon. Bosun Ogunleye and other political appointees, who engaged with the community as part of the Governor’s mobilisation efforts.
The visit aimed to address the challenges faced by various communities across the state. The government representatives were met with a warm reception, as residents turned out in large numbers to share their concerns. Chief S.I. Folorunso (JP) and Hon. Idowu Otetubi (FCA), Chairmen of the Omolayo/Osisi Communities, welcomed the delegation and assured them of the community’s support for the current administration.
During the visit, residents highlighted the pressing issue of electricity, particularly the breakdown of their transformer, which has left the community in darkness for nearly a year. They urged the government to intervene and provide a replacement transformer, noting that the previous one had served them for 25 years.
The community expressed their unwavering support for the government ahead of the upcoming elections, pleading with the Governor to fulfil their request for a 500KVA transformer to restore power to their homes.
Responding to the community’s needs, Mr. Akinsulu Julius appreciated the residents for their enthusiastic welcome and assured them that their concerns would be relayed to the Governor, promising timely feedback. Hon. (Mrs) Olabisi Olajide reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting the community, encouraging them to continue backing the administration.
Hon. Bosun Ogunleye thanked the Omolayo/Osisi Community for their hospitality and vowed that the Governor would address their needs promptly. He also urged the youth leader, Akintan Akinyemi A., to maintain open communication with the Special Assistants to ensure the community’s concerns were effectively channelled. A youth representative, Lekan Kolawole, vowed to rally the youth in support of the Governor’s re-election in the upcoming polls on 16th November 2024, contingent on a resolution to their electricity crisis.
