Old Students of Aquinas College, Akure (ACAOSA) have called on Ondo State Governor , Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to make real his promise to return schools to their original owners.
The National and World Wide President of the association, Retired Justice Adesuyi Olateru Olagbegi made the call at the commissioning and dedication of Sports Pavilion and Clinic for their Alma- Mater .
Olagbegi said returning the schools to their original owners will benefit the government and the society at large, saying missionaries will resurrect the boarding school which will keep the students away from all sorts of evil from the unverifiable parts of the world.
The ACAOSA national and world Wide President added that Catholic mission have the administrative management that will ensure that students fall in line academically adding that they will provide adequate hostel accommodation for students if returned to them.
“They may not be able to provide the accommodation at once, because presently Aquinas has about 3500 students, but I’m sure it will done in phases.”
He added that missionaries will review the quality of teaching in schools; they will increase mentoring programs to ensure that every child in the school will know their mission coming to the school; discipline will be brought back to our schools.
“Our association has been the most eagerly participatory in the clamour for the return of the school to the missionaries.”
According to him, “the Catholic Bishop of Ondo Diocese, Most Reverend, Jude Arogundade has assured me that no child will be deprived on account of impecunniarities, no child will lose out for the simple reason that they are not from a rich family.
“Everyone will be catered for, nobody will be laid off, no student will be sent out on a count of no ability to pay ,they have done it one or two schools that are running by Catholic and I’m sure they will do it again, I have confidence in them”.
