Revenue bill ‘ll enhance devt –ODHA

The Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr Bamidele Oleyelogun has disclosed that a bill to make provision for the administration and collection of revenue due to the State and local government councils in the state would improve the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and the enhance development of the state.

He stated this yesterday at a one-day public hearing on a bill for a law to make provisions for the administration and collection of revenue due to the Government of Ondo State and Local Government Councils in the state to establish the relevant administrative structures and for matters and purposes connected thereto, organised by the House’s Ad-hoc Committee on Finance and Appropriation, held at the hallowed chambers.

Oleyelogun charged the stakeholders at the public hearing to contribute their quotas to ensure the success and passage of the bill.

Relevant stakeholders including representatives of MDAs, local governments, corporate organisations and general public attended the event.

It would be recalled that the Assembly at its plenary sitting on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, set up the Ad-hoc Committee to scrutiny the bill before its passage into law.

Addressing the committee, the Chairman, Ondo State Board of Internal Revenue, Tolu Adegbie, explained that the bill when passed into law, will bring good thing to the people of the state, saying that the issue of multiple taxation will be addressed.

He said the law will highlight all the taxes payable to the state by any individual, streamline and regulate tax payment in the state.

Adegbie equally said the law will block all the loopholes in the collection of revenue and ensure sanity in the state.

He lauded the committee for their efforts and commitment to the development of the state.
