Road accidents kill more in Nigeria -FRSC

Road crashes killed people more than ailments or diseases in Nigeria, Ondo State Commandant of the Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC), Rotimi Adeleye has declared.

Adeleye disclosed this yesterday when he led other officers of FRSC on a courtesy visit to the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ondo State Council at their Alagbaka Press Centre.

Adeleye represented by Deputy Commander, Operation, Olusegun Ogungbemide  said crashes killed without notice, but that other ailments including AIDS gives notice that can be treated or managed.

He said 1.3 million people are killed annually throughout the world as he added that larger percentage of them are from Nigeria.

Adeleye who commended NUJ members in Ondo State for their collaboration with the agency called for more collaboration from the journalists.

He assured of FRSC officials quick response to accident scene adding that the agency’s duty is to guide against impunity in all forms of road traffic.

Responding, Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ondo State Council, Tona Aderoboye who lauded the sector commander of FRSC and his men assured of support of his member for the good of Nigerians.
