The Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has promised to take appropriate steps to ensure that ongoing road contracts across the state are delivered in strict compliance with contract details.
Akeredolu who stated this while inspecting the 9.3Kilometre Ute Road in Ose Local Government Area, stated that it was a deliberate policy of his administration to create time to inspect the pace and quality of jobs being undertaken by contractors working on various infrastructural projects across the state.
He explained that through the policy of constant inspection, the state government has been able to determine the performance level of the contractors working on projects for the state within the context of the contract specifications and therefore takes informed decisions for the good of citizens of the state.
The governor was accompanied by his Special Adviser on Lands, Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Raimi Aminu, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Mr.Taiwo Otun and some engineers from the contracting firm handling the road project.
He assured that the speed of delivery of work on the road would soon be accelerated while noticeable areas of concerns would be discussed with the contractor for positive adjustments.
“Over thirty contractors are currently working for us on various road projects across the state.
“So if one or two of them are being faced with one challenge or the other, we are ready to listen to them and find plausible solutions”, the governor added.
Akeredolu explained that he was at the project site to personally see the level of work done, pointing out that it was the plan of the government to get the 9.3 kilometre Ute road rehabilitated and asphalted for the benefit of the people in the affected areas.
Other ongoing projects inspected by the governor and his team included Ipele township roads and the Ipele-Iyere Owo Road.
