Ondo State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr Taofiq Abdulsalam has said that government will continue to consider the interest of the people in providing infrastructural facilities in the state.
The Commissioner stated this while playing host to residents of Alagbaka extension community who paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the weekend.
Abdulsalam who said a lot of request were received on roads construction and rehabilitation emphasised that the government under the leadership of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, did not have to know any particular person in an area before providing the necessary facilities for them.
According to him, the governor believed that provision of good roads and other facilities are the rights of the people and they must enjoy them.
The Commissioner therefore called on the people to give Akeredolu’s led government the desired support in order to continue to benefit from good plans of the administration.
Speaking in the same vein, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Engr.Taiwo Otun affirmed that all the contractors working on the state roads are competent and are delivering quality jobs.
While enumerating several other roads which are either completed or nearing completion, Otun assured residents of Alagbaka that their road will be completed soon.
Speaking on the little delays being experienced in the area, the Permanent Secretary said the initial conception was 1.5km but was later extended to 4km and in view of the governor’s desire to ensure that more people benefit from the road construction, it has now been increased to over 6km.
Speaking earlier, the leader of the team Engr. David Omorege thanked the state government for constructing the roads, noting that successive administrations had abandoned the Alagbaka extension despite several letters of request to them.
He explained that due to continuous expansion, Alagbaka area is divided into three units of A, B&C with each having unit leaders for easy administration.
He said prior to the administration of Governor Akeredolu, the people of the area used to do self help on the roads through grading and channelisation of erosion prone areas.
Omorege therefore used the forum to pledge the support of the people of Alagbaka extension community to the current administration in the state.
