Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has expressed satisfaction with the quality of ongoing and completed road projects in Akure South Local Government area, assuring residents of his administration’s commitment to infrastructural renewal.

The governor, who inspected key roads in the state capital on Wednesday, visited Owe Akala, Odopetu Road, Oda Road, Shagari-Onyearugbulem Overhead Bridge, and Ijoka Road, where construction and rehabilitation works are progressing.

Speaking at Owe Akala Junction, Aiyedatiwa described the 2.3-kilometre road as a critical urban link that had been in a deplorable state for over 16 years.

He noted that one kilometre of asphalt overlay had been completed, while the remaining stretch would be finalised within days.

He also addressed concerns over the focus on Akure, clarifying that his administration had embarked on a statewide road rehabilitation initiative covering 60 kilometres, with 20 kilometres allocated to each senatorial district.

He assured that similar projects were ongoing in the North and South  Senatorial districts.

At Odopetu Road, where 1.5 kilometres had been completed, the governor assured residents that the remaining 300 metres would soon be delivered.

He also inspected the 7.8-kilometre Oda Road, highlighting its importance to farmers and disclosing that an additional 7-kilometre extension was being developed under the Rural Access and Marketing Programme (RAMP) to enhance connectivity between farm settlements and the city.

Aiyedatiwa also inspected the Shagari-Onyearugbulem Overhead Bridge, which he revealed was 70 percent completed.

He urged contractors to speed up work, assuring that the project, initiated by the previous administration, would be completed within two months.

The projects have been met with appreciation from residents, who described the development as a long-overdue intervention.

Speaking on behalf of the Oda community, Biodun Olusegun, commended the government’s efforts, noting that the improved roads would significantly ease movement, especially during the rainy season.

Chairman of Akure South Local Government, Dr. Gbenga Fasua, hailed the projects as a transformative development for the city, stressing that several long-neglected roads were now receiving attention.

Aiyedatiwa was accompanied on the inspection tour by key government officials, including the Special Adviser on Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Abiola Olaoye, and the Senior Special Assistant on Community Engagement (Central), Oluwafemi Fadairo.
