Ondo State farmers have asserted, that good road network will boost food production and reduce current hardship.
The farmers who spoke in separate interviews with The Hope applauded the state government for its move to commence rural road infrastructural development which it flagged off recently along Oda road in Akure South local government area.
The state Chairman of Agricultural Commodities Association OSACA, Obaweya advised the road contractors to start with drainage system and culvert during this dry period before rain starts fully .
He also implored government to prioritize other roads that are of great importance and avoid politicizing on the choice of road to be rehabilitated.
He, however, appreciated the RAMP, federal government and the World Bank for their partnership on the project and we wish them all the best.
On his part, the State Chairman of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) who is also the state President of Farmers Congress, Mr Abayomi Monilari said the Governor has swung into action on road rehabilitation having considered the high cost of food.
“I am sure the issue of access road from the rural areas will soon be a thing of the past because the present government has approved money and ordered that RAMP should go ahead.”
” I am one of the people chosen to monitor and see to the implementation. I thank God that he is a listening Governor and Ondo State will go back to history in food production,” he stated.
