Roaming during school hours unacceptable – ODSG

Students in secondary schools who are fond of roaming the streets during school hours have been warned to desist from such act as the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, has said it will deal with any one caught .

This was coming after an incident where some students were caught in an hotel located at Alagbaka in their school uniforms and some dressed in jeans with make-ups in their faces.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Rev Akin Asaniyan who made this known in an interview, said the ministry has constituted a task force that will be going round the flash points areas where students are been harboured when they were supposed to be in school.

He said” we have mandated our officers to go out and do sampling and any student found, their photographs be taken as well as their contacts and visit their schools the next day to fish them out and give them the punishment they deserve.

“If the government is doing all it could to give them books, conducive environment, provide teachers, what more do they want” he lamented.

He called on parents to keep watch over their children like hen does saying children of nowadays are over-exposed due to internet and social media influence.

“Any parent who value education should take care of their children and wards and not leave the job to the teachers alone and also, teachers should be up and doing whenever the students are in their custody” he said.

He said the Ministry will continue to improve on what to do so that all the student s in the state complies with the rules guiding them while in school.
