Robbery: Court remands teenager

An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court has remanded a 16-year-old boy, Adamu Abubakar at the Children Correctional Centre in Ado-Ekiti over alleged armed robbery.
The defendant, who lives at No 23, Onala street, Ado-Ekiti was standing trial on two counts of armed robbery and conspiracy.
The police prosecutor, Insp.Monica Ikebuilo, told the court that the teenager committed the offence on June 28 in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State..
She alleged that the defendant robbed one Nafiu Ibrahim and Olaitan of their phones and money.
She said the offence contravened Section 2 (1) (a) and (b) of the Robbery and Firearms Act Cap RII Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
Ikebuilo urged the court to remand the defendant in the Children Correctional Centre pending advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs Adefumike Anoma, ordered the remand of the defendant at the Children Correctional Centre pending issuance of legal advice.
She adjourned the case till July 27 for mention.
