Rohr has done well -Owanikin

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Ondo State, Mr Dotun Owanikin has put his weight behind the Super Eagles’ coach to continue mentoring the country’s national team.
Owanikin In a chat with Sporting Hope averred that the coach has done well to get contract extension, saying he only needed to take Nigeria league serious.
He added that since it has been inserted in his new contract that he will be residing in Nigeria to monitor local league and other domestic football, he will be forced to look at local leagues with a view to developing raw talent for the national teams.
He said the situation where he will resides in his country home with impression that he is monitoring players all over the world from there is not the best for the development of football in the country.
According to him, “if he agrees to live here with us in Nigeria ,then let him continue his good work,” he said.
On the indigenous coaches, he advised Nigerians to tarry a while before entrusting the national team in the hands of home grown coaches.
He said while we allowed the foreign coach to continue in office , we should be developing our coaches through different refresher courses within and outside the Nigeria to equip them with adequate experience and exposure to face the challenging of handling the national team.
He however advised the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) concentrate on the developmental programs that will improve the round leather game in the country.
“Let move forward. We should not allow anything to draw us back to the era of trading words between coaches and ex- players.”
