In a bid to deepen grassroots football, Royal Gold Soccer Academy of Akure has given Akure High School playing ground a face-lift.
The Akure High School playing ground had been long abandoned and became unplayable, due to overgrown wield.
It looked like impossible mission, but the Football Soccer Academy was not deterred with the condition of the field, took the bull by the horns by making it playable again.
In a chat with Sporting Hope, head coach of the academy, Johnson Blessing said he embarked on the rehabilitation of the school pitch in order not to kill the moral of the upcoming football stars.
He said they were asked to quit their former training ground, adding that as a management we looked for alternative.
He thanked God for making it possible for the academy to overcome the initial hiccups.
“We were able to make the training pitch playable through collective efforts; we were not deterred with the nature of the pitch, because it was too bushy.
” My boys and l did the clearing and ensured it can be used for matches again”
”After the clearing, we took money from our coffers to erect goalposts”
“We will maintain the field and ensure that the school facilities are kept safe”
The academy is planning to embark on constructing pavilion for the school.”
