The National Executive Council of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Alumni Association has applauded the Ondo State Government for approving the long-awaited 12th to 23rd Combined Convocation Ceremonies of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo.
In a statement signed by the National President, Chief Adesina Adeola, the alumni praised Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for what it described as a landmark decision that restored pride to thousands of graduates across the world.
The association noted that the approval demonstrated the governor’s strong commitment to education, youth empowerment, and institutional growth in the state.
“This singular act is a testament to the administration’s dedication to advancing the cause of education and empowering young people for future leadership,” the statement read in part.
It added that the Alumni Association would, as part of activities marking the convocation week, commission its National Secretariat (Legacy Project), perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the Alumni Lock-Up Shops, and ratify its constitution.
The group said the initiatives were aimed at strengthening the institution’s foundation and deepening unity and service among its graduates.
The Alumni body also appreciated the Governing Council of the Polytechnic for its continued commitment to the school’s development and for keeping the RUGIPO spirit alive.
The National Public Relations Officer of the Association, Nr Asulewon Samuel, urged all graduates of the institution to participate fully in the convocation activities, describing the event as “not just a convocation — it is a reunion of legacy bearers.”
