The Acting Rector of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO), Mr Gani Ogundahunsi has charged all members of staff of the institution to help salvage the school ,by supporting  the management to bring about the needed positive development and transformation.

He gave the charge at the Rector -Staff Forum held at the institution.

He emphasised that “it requires a collective resolve of all members of staff to rescue the system from total collapse”.

Ogundahunsi identified indiscipline, huge wage bills, poor students enrollment, and poor Internally Generated Revenue profile as some of the challenges confronting and militating against the progress of the institution.

According to  him, “It must start with the conviction that the system is indeed ailing, and clearly requires the attention of all stakeholders in the institution to fix it.To change the system and make it function efficiently, members of staff  must play a vital role”.

He therefore called for attitudinal change on the part of staff, by paying attention to key responsibilities of their schedules saying that  “Management on its part had just put in place several Ad-hoc committees to investigate some reported cases of indiscipline in a bid to enforce discipline among staff “

Ogundahunsi also informed the gathering that in order to reposition the institution, the management has started making efforts to facilitate the completion of both state and TETFUND sponsored building projects in the institution which he said had been abandoned for some time.

He further stated that ,”Sincere efforts are being made to resuscitate and reinvigorate some of the institution’s business ventures such as the Bakery, Water Bottling Factory, and the Guest House”.
