By Adeboye Ado

The Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO), Ondo State, on Friday matriculated over 3,000 fresh students into various academic programmes for the 2024/2025 session, marking its 32nd matriculation ceremony.

Speaking at the event, the Acting Rector, Mr Olorunwa Simon Adegun, congratulated the newly admitted students on their successful admission and urged them to remain steadfast in the pursuit of academic excellence.

Adegun reiterated the institution’s zero tolerance for all forms of misconduct, particularly cultism and other cult-related activities. He warned the students to be discerning in their association with peers, cautioning that negative influences could derail their academic aspirations.

He reminded the students of the forthcoming first-semester examinations and stressed the need for diligence and discipline. The Acting Rector issued a stern warning against examination malpractice, assault on invigilators, and other forms of inappropriate conduct during examinations, noting that such infractions attract severe sanctions, including expulsion.

Adegun further warned against the use of mobile phones and similar devices within examination halls, emphasising that any breach of examination protocols would not be tolerated.

While expressing appreciation to the Ondo State Governor, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, Adegun commended the Governor for his unwavering support towards the development of the polytechnic.

He highlighted the Governor’s directive for the institution to hold a convocation ceremony, the first in over a decade, as a testament to his commitment to repositioning the polytechnic for academic and infrastructural growth.
