The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command Female Squad Unit under the Safe School Initiative of the Corps has embarked on sensitization of schools in the State.
In a statement from the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Aidamenbor Daniel, the command vowed to ensure that insecurity in the school community is reduced to the barest minimum by increasing the security consciousness capacity of both teachers and students within the State.
At Saint Dominic High School Akure and Akure Secondary Commercial School, the squad educated the school community on personal security skills, emergency response and first aid applications, sexual abuse and gender-based violence (GBV).
Students were implored to raise the alarm or speak out to the school authority or any security outfit if found in any abusive situation.
The staff were also educated on measures to take in order to make their school safer and more secure.
