Saint FC clinch maiden Crown 74 football tournament title

By Femi Atolagbe

Saint Football Club of Akure emerged victorious in the inaugural Crown 74 football tournament, defeating United Army 1-0 in the final held at the Ijapo Housing field, Akure, Ondo State.

Samuel Adetunji scored the decisive goal in the 75th minute, breaking the deadlock after a goalless first half in what was an intense and entertaining encounter. Despite United Army’s efforts to equalise and force a penalty shootout, Saint FC’s disciplined defence held firm.

In the third-place match, Ijapo Ages Stars FC overcame Elite FC with a 5-3 penalty shootout victory.

Speaking with Sporting Hope, the competition sponsor, Falade Adekiitan, congratulated the winners and highlighted Ondo State as a hub for talent. He expressed gratitude for achieving his dream of supporting sports development in the state.

“It has always been my dream to contribute to the development of sports in our state, and I thank God it has become a reality,” Adekiitan said.

He praised the teams for their sportsmanship and adherence to the competition’s rules
